Water wise tropical paradise

Enhancing the Hawaiian Plantation architecture of this beautiful home while maintaining the Platinum Certified LEED status of the landscape was our objective for this project. We reduced water use with Dymondia as a groundcover in place of a sod lawn. The Kentia Palms and Giant Birds of Paradise provide accent and drama with less water use once established. Both conventional and subsurface low water use driplines were installed for irrigation. Raised vegetable garden beds provide food for the kitchen and a wonderful aesthetic to the front yard entry of the property. Decomposed granite is used as pathways and adjacent patios, providing a relaxed natural look for both access and lounging.
